Step into the timeless craft of Relief Wood Carving - one of the oldest art forms in the world. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of woodcarving using traditional chisels and gouges. Guided by an expert artist, you’ll explore the nature of wood - its grain, structure, and anatomy - while understanding how light and shadow bring your carvings to life.

From sharpening techniques to the final polish, this immersive session takes you through each step of the process. By the end of the workshop, you’ll create your own relief carving on teakwood - a piece to treasure and a skill to continue.

Yamin Mustafa Mohiuddin

About the Host:

Yamin is a Furniture designer and a self taught artist, his journey with woodworking started way back in the late nineties. An alumni of the university of Delhi, he studied Interior architecture at Jenson & Nicholson. He started his practice as a Furniture designer in 2003 and ever since has successfully catered to an esteemed clientele all over the country. 

He works out of his studio in Hyderabad on bespoke Furniture and sculptural woodworking. He has showcased his furniture and designs globally including the prestigious London Design Festival, 2013. His artworks including relief carvings and Sculptures have been displayed at various galleries and art Festivals. He is a collaborating artist with David Shepherd wildlife Foundation London, working as a contributing artist for the cause of animal conservation. He is extremely passionate about fine woodworking and continues to teach the finer nuances of the craft at his studio and at various design facilities. He brings with him an experience of more than two decades and an ardent love for the craft.
