Documentary Screening: Taal aur Tarang- A Symphony of Instrument Makers
Join us for a special screening of Taal aur Tarang, a documentary by Pranshu Shah that shines a light on Vadodara’s extraordinary community of musical instrument makers. For over 150 years, these families have preserved and passed down the intricate art of instrument making across generations - sustaining a living cultural tradition.
The film thoughtfully explores the past, present, and future of these craftsmen, whose dedication continues to shape India’s musical heritage. It also features Dhaval Mistry of B.C. Mistry and Sons, one of the few remaining makers of the rare Rudra Veena, with instruments displayed in museums in India and abroad, including The Hague, Netherlands.
Stay back for a discussion as we reflect on craft, legacy, and the stories behind the sounds we often take for granted.
