Janak

By education, I’m a Textile Engineer, and over the years, I’ve explored a variety of professional roles — my career journey has been a rich blend, much like a bhelpuri or khichdi of experiences! I discovered pottery at the age of 64, inspired by my daughter, Parinda, who had already ventured into the world of ceramics. I began with a one-month crash course, and from there, my curiosity and love for the craft grew. I continued developing my skills through books, videos, and consistent practice — especially during the Covid lockdown in 2020, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for my creative journey.Post-Covid, we set up a studio on our terrace. Parinda and I began by conducting workshops together and later expanded to teaching basic wheel-throwing and glaze mixing courses. My journey in pottery is ongoing — I continue learning new techniques like crystalline glazing and exploring the limitless possibilities of ceramics. For me, pottery has become more than just a retirement hobby. It’s a meaningful pursuit that keeps me engaged, challenges me to grow, and even allows me to earn through something I truly enjoy.I believe learning never stops — and pottery has beautifully proven that to me.
